The Next Step In Handheld Gaming

Now that I'm back I shall resume to normal blogging in 3.. 2.. 1.

Anyway... It used to be that if you wanted to play game's on the go you had two choices Sony's psp or Nintendos DS, the DS offering dual screen one of witch being a touch screen (this was before touch screens were cool) and the psp offering more multimedia features such as video's and music play back.
But now that you can do all this on you re phone (notice how I said phone and not iPhone) as well as having some great games on you're phone (again phone not iPhone) carrying these bulky portable game systems around seems completely unnecessary making the products them selves almost well... obsolete.
Well it seems the manufactures saw this coming and they have acted fast both Sony and Nintendo are coming out with some fantastic products that (hopefully) wont disappoint, Nintendo with there 3DS a glassless take on 3D gaming and Sony with there psp phone witch is... you guessed it a phone with a psp attached.

Nintendo's 3DS Due for release on 26/2/11 in japan for 25,000 yen no Priceng or release date is been out for the rest of the world but it looks like march 2011 is a likely realise date

While there are several enhancements that the Nintendo 3DS brings to the current Nintendo DS form factor, the official "hook" with the 3DS will be its ability to display stereoscopic 3D effects – similar to theatrical movies such as Avatar and How to Train Your Dragon -- on the screen but without the need for special glasses. It will be the top screen only with this effect because fingerprints etc will disrupt the 3D effect on the touch screen.Other new features include improved processing power, two camera lenses on the outside of the system (for 3D photos), an analog controller called the "Slide Pad," motion-sensing accelerometer and gyroscope, an infrared port, a "home" button that enables users to jump between tasks in-game, and a telescoping stylus. Sonny psp phone

Not alot has been said yet about this except that it will be realised in 2011 although a holiday realise is not ruled out (you'd expect more info at this point if it was to be out by 2011). The phone shall be realised with google's android operating system version 2.3 (gingerbread).

  3. Anyone want to bet for the first holographic videogame release date? Haha

But well, I don't think I'll get my hand on this 3DS. Might invest in a new PC or wait for the next Playstation for my brand new TV!

  4. The only real question I have about the 3DS is this : Why? I own a DSlite, and I love the thing to death, but I think that a 3d version would just give me a headache.
